Play Strategy Discussion Forum

About Les Compton

Les Compton is Deputy Head of Young Peoples Services for Bristol City Council where he has led the development of the Council's Play Policy 'Making Play Matter' (2003) and Strategy 'Playing for Real' (2004) in partnership with the voluntary and community sector. The strategy is the blue print for the development of children and young people's play in the city and is cross cutting. Les has secured signup from a wide range of stakeholders and therefore the strategy is generally recognised as a model of good practice.

Prior to joining BCC in 2002, Les has worked for a number of local authorities in a variety of play, youth and community work roles for some 25 years.
